Open Question: Why can't I find a job in Oklahoma City? Am I employable?

29 July 2010, 3:58 pm

I am a recent college graduate searching for full-time employment in the Oklahoma City metro area. There are a number of factors working against me. First, I hold a very impractical bachelor's degree. Second, my GPA wasn't very good. Third, my job experience is somewhat limited. There are probably several other things to factor into the equation, but that is where I need help. I have been applying for jobs that do not require a college degree, and I have not received a single call. All in all, I have probably applied for over a hundred jobs in various fields. I have also registered through Express Pro Services. Alas, I am without a job. It is incredibly discouraging considering the fact that Oklahoma City's job market is in decent shape. I know that my resume isn't the most impressive thing out there, but I don't think I look as bad as many people that are employed. Am I employable? I have pasted part of my resume below: Education Bachelor of Arts Degree, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK Graduated: May 2010 Major: Letters GPA: 2.78/4.0 President’s Community Scholar Experience University of Oklahoma, Department of Zoology, Zhang Laboratory, Norman, OK Research Assistant, May 2008-June 2009 Proofread grant proposals and research manuscripts.
